The Journey Begins

Welcome to my Altenew journey! I'm currently taking courses to get certified as an Altenew instructor. This blog will be where I post any projects and classes I'm offering.

To get certified, a candidate has to complete 3 levels which contain 10 courses each. I finally finished my first course, which was a long one, All About Layering 3. I created a card for each of the 6 lessons in the first course.

Easy Ink Blending Techniques

I just finished the fourth class for my Level One certification, called Easy Ink Blending Techniques. This class went very quickly as I’ve been ink blending for many years. Enjoy my projects! In this first lesson, our task was to blend ink around the edges of the card. For this card, we needed to use ink and a blender tool to color white card stock. Here, I colored the green on the left side. In this lesson, we learned how to add the same color to an ink blended area to creature texture. I then took a stencil and created a hinge on the right side by added a piece of low tack tape. With the Post-It note still covering the blue, I used more green to color over the stencil. I moved the stencil by flipping open at the hinge and moved the Post-It over the green and repeated the ink blending with the blue. Here, I ink bl...

Clean & Simple Boutique Cards

I've completed my third class towards my certification, Clean & Simple Boutique Cards. This was, by far, my favorite class so far. I love the look of simple cards. Quick & easy to create, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Here are my four projects: Just a quick, simple card using stencils to color the flowers & leaves. Add a quick sentiment and done! Repeat the same stamp all over, and quickly watercolor using two colors for each box. Foil makes all the difference in a simple stamped card. The gold mirror specialty paper is the star on this card. A simple black & white image would work just fine for this very simple design, but I just couldn't help myself and I had to color this beautiful image.
