Easy Ink Blending Techniques

I just finished the fourth class for my Level One certification, called Easy Ink Blending Techniques. This class went very quickly as I’ve been ink blending for many years. Enjoy my projects!

In this first lesson, our task was to blend ink around the edges of the card.

For this card, we needed to use ink and a blender tool to color white card stock. Here, I colored the green on the left side.

In this lesson, we learned how to add the same color to an ink blended area to creature texture. Under the fox, I used a Post-It note to mask off the green at the bottom and blended blue on the top. I then moved the Post-It note onto the blue and blended the green. I then took a stencil and created a hinge on the right side by added a piece of low tack tape. With the Post-It note still covering the blue, I used more green to color over the stencil. I moved the stencil by flipping open at the hinge and moved the Post-It over the green and repeated the ink blending with the blue.

Here, I ink blended two colors on the background. I also used ink blending to color the flowers.

I colored the flowers in with ink blending. Then, I smooshed each color onto my craft sheet. I added some texture to each flower by picking up some ink with a wet paintbrush and dabbed it onto each flower.

This was a fun shaker card. I love making shakers, and this was a different technique for me, using a plastic stamp storage pocket. After creating the shaker, I added the lattice background on top, then the flowers.

Clean & Simple Boutique Cards

I've completed my third class towards my certification, Clean & Simple Boutique Cards. This was, by far, my favorite class so far. I love the look of simple cards. Quick & easy to create, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Here are my four projects: Just a quick, simple card using stencils to color the flowers & leaves. Add a quick sentiment and done! Repeat the same stamp all over, and quickly watercolor using two colors for each box. Foil makes all the difference in a simple stamped card. The gold mirror specialty paper is the star on this card. A simple black & white image would work just fine for this very simple design, but I just couldn't help myself and I had to color this beautiful image.

The Journey Begins

Welcome to my Altenew journey! I'm currently taking courses to get certified as an Altenew instructor. This blog will be where I post any projects and classes I'm offering. To get certified, a candidate has to complete 3 levels which contain 10 courses each. I finally finished my first course, which was a long one, All About Layering 3. I created a card for each of the 6 lessons in the first course.  Lesson 1 Lesson 2 Lesson 3 Lesson 4 Lesson 5 Lesson 6
